What’s the worse part about change? Probably not knowing what to expect or what to do about it. Become a member and we'll show you how easy it is to MAKE THE SWITCH to Members 1st. When you become a member or if you are a current member you will need to follow the three easy steps below and you will be on your way to making the switch to Members 1st.

The first thing that you will need to do is become a member of Members 1st FCU and open a checking account, you can do this by applying online, or by visiting any of our branch locations.

Step 1.) Open your new checking account

Stop into any Members 1st branch location to open your new checking account.

  • Make sure to bring with you a valid photo id, such as a driver’s license.
  • Remember not to close your old checking account until all automatic withdrawals and deposits have been switched over and all of your checks have cleared.
  • When opening your checking account remember to sign up for:
    • Free Overdraft Protection
    • Free Visa Debit Card
    • Members 1st Online and EZ Call - Free 24/7 banking either online or over the phone.
    • Free eStatements

Step 2.) Switch Over Your Direct Deposit and Automatic Withdrawals

  • Check your current checking account to find out what Automatic Transactions you have going in and out of your checking account.
  • Complete the downloadable Direct Deposit form and return to your employer. This will assist with transferring your direct deposit into your Members 1st Checking Account.
  • Complete the downloadable Automatic Withdrawal form and send it to any utility companies, mortgage companies, insurance companies and any company you have making automatic withdrawals from your account.

Step 3.) Close your old Checking Account

The final step is closing your old checking account. Remember to make sure that:

  • All of your automatic withdrawals and direct deposits are transferred into your Members 1st Checking Account.
  • All of your checks have cleared.
  • Use the downloadable Close Checking Account form to make the process easier.
  • Remember to destroy your old checks, ATM/debit cards and deposit slips.

What do I need to open a checking account with Members 1st?
To open a checking account with Members 1st you must have a Regular Savings account. The savings account requires a $5 minimum balance requirement. Please remember to bring a form of picture ID with you.

Members 1st offers a FREE Visa Debit Card. This card is accepted wherever Visa is accepted – ATM, merchants, online. No matter how you use it, it always comes directly from your checking account (no monthly bills). Members 1st also offers the Swipe 5® program in conjunction with our debit card. This program gives you 5 cents every time you sign for a purchase using your Members 1st VISA Debit Card.

What ATM’s are available for me to use without a charge?
Members 1st has many ATM locations in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, and York Counties. We also belong to two No-surcharge ATM alliances; CO-OP ATM Network and CU$ ATM Alliance. You can visit our web site under locations to find all of our branch and ATM locations.

Access your account anytime or anywhere 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Members 1st Online allows you to check your balances, see checks that have cleared, withdraw funds by check, transfer funds, order checks, view your e-statements, order foreign currency and more. Our automated over the phone banking allows you to check your balances, see what checks have cleared, withdraw funds by check and transfer funds. What about Bill Payer? Members 1st FCU does offer a Bill Payer service. The cost is $3.95 per month and includes 8 single payments. Each bill over the initial 8 will cost $0.35 each. You must have Members 1st Online to enroll and use the Members 1st Bill Payer. The Members 1st Bill Payer service is FREE to our Gold, Platinum and Titanium level members as a part of our Member Loyalty Rewards Program. Ask an associate for additional information.
