Grab the snacks, turn on the TV and get ready for kickoff! Even if your team didn’t make the playoffs, hosting a big game watch party can still be a touchdown—without blowing your budget.

Whether you’re focused on football, laughing at commercials or rooting for the halftime show, game day is the perfect excuse to gather your family and friends. Here’s how to score big on fun while keeping costs low:

1. BYO style
Ask your friends to bring their favorite drinks or appetizers. Provide a few food and beverage options and let your crew take care of the rest. Everyone contributes, and the result is always a win.

2. DIY stadium snacks
Skip pricey pre-made platters and get creative! Make your own game-day favorites like popcorn in team colors, build-your-own sliders or a veggie tray shaped like a goal post. These crowd-pleasers are easy on your budget, big on flavor and guaranteed to earn extra points on social media.

3. Co-host for a shared victory
Split the hosting duties with a friend or two. Divide up snacks, drinks and even cleanup. Co-hosting spreads the cost (and the fun!) and gets everyone involved—because the more players on your team, the bigger the celebration.

4. Keep your guest list tight
Sometimes, less is more. A smaller, more intimate gathering reduces costs, cuts prep time and lets you really enjoy the game with each person.

5. Skip the decorations
Your guests came for the game, the snacks and the company—not your streamers. Save the money you’d spend on banners and balloons and put it toward something that really matters: chips, dips or a sweet treat.

6. Use real dishes
We know what you are thinking. Yes, washing and drying dishes takes time, but in the end, it will save you money. The cost of disposable plates, platters, cups and silverware adds up fast. Use what you already have. If you’re co-hosting, split cleanup duties to keep things doable.

7. Plan ahead to avoid last-minute spending
Make a simple shopping list before heading to the store. A game plan helps you avoid impulse buys and keeps your plans on track.

8. Score cash back on your purchases
Hosting smart doesn’t stop at the kitchen. Use a Members 1st credit card to earn rewards while buying groceries and other items for your party.

• Visa Platinum® Rewards card: 2% cash back on gas and groceries, 1% cash back on all other purchases*

• Visa Signature® Rewards card: 1.5% cash back or 1.5 points on all purchases**

It’s like converting every grocery run into an extra yard gained—because every little bit helps when you’re managing a budget. Compare our credit cards to see which one would fit your party planning lifestyle.

At the end of the day, game day is about laughter, good company and maybe a few friendly rivalries. With these tips, you’ll throw a party that’s memorable and won’t fumble your savings—even if your team doesn’t win the championship.
