What is ACH Origination?
You might have heard of ACH before but didn’t really know what it meant. ACH stands for Automatic Clearing House and ACH origination allows businesses to have funds electronically transmitted for things like payroll and bill payments within the United States. Some of the common terms used when referencing different ACH services include:
Direct deposit
Bill payment
Account transfers
B2B payments
Cash management
Your business can use all the above to withdraw or deposit funds. According to Nacha (opens in a new tab), 93% of Americans receive their pay through the ACH Network. ACH also allows businesses to withdraw funds from accounts for subscription-based purchases.
ACH payments can be processed in a few hours on the same business day, scheduled for the following day or up to two days in advance.
Think of all of these ACH services as a railyard. There are a lot of different trains going down many different tracks, like the different types of ACH transactions that are occurring. All the withdrawals and deposits come from the same place, the Federal Reserve, at rapid speed and electronically, helping businesses make their payments faster.
